Bathrooms, wet rooms and splashbacks

Floor to ceiling, as Malta does it — tanked first, tiled second, sealed last.

A Maltese bathroom is tiled floor to ceiling, which means a 2.5 by 2 metre room carries about five square metres of floor and twenty-three of wall. That is why the calculator prices surface, not rooms, and why the walls are where the money is. It is also why the order matters: the plumber's first fix must be finished and pressure-tested, the walls tanked, and only then does the first tile go on.

Tiles and grout are not waterproof; the membrane under them is. Every shower and wet area we tile gets a liquid membrane with corner and pipe tapes, and it is a priced line on the card, not an extra found later.

What this covers

What it costs

Per square metre of tiled surface, labour and a mid-range tile together, with tanking as its own adder. Sanitary ware, plumbing and the electrician are separate trades — plumber-malta.com prices the plumbing.

A band, not a quote: the low end is a straightforward job with clear access, the high end is the same job with the complications a site visit finds. Materials are included where the line says so.

How it works

You deal with us, not with the trade. We measure, we quote a fixed price per square metre, we bring in a tiler from the CheckYourTraders-verified network, and we stand behind the work. One point of contact, one contract, one invoice.

Questions people ask

How many square metres is my bathroom?
Floor length times width, plus the walls: perimeter times height, less the door. A 2.5 × 2 m room with 2.6 m ceilings is 5 m² of floor and about 21 m² of wall after the door.
Large format on a small bathroom wall?
Yes, and it looks bigger for it — fewer grout lines. It needs a flat wall and a two-man lift, which is what the large-format band pays for.
