Floor tiling

Ceramic to slab, laid flat on a levelled screed — priced per square metre by tile grade.

A tiler laying large-format porcelain on a levelling system in a Maltese apartment

A Maltese floor is a concrete slab with a screed on it, and the screed decides everything. Laid flat and cured, it takes any tile; laid thin, green or hollow, it cracks the tile above it within a year. The site visit taps the floor before anyone prices it, which is why levelling is its own line and not a surprise.

The bands are per square metre of surface and include a mid-range tile of the grade: ceramic and standard porcelain at the bottom, large format with a levelling system in the middle, natural stone and book-matched slab at the top. Choose a dearer tile than the band allows and it is priced at cost; the labour does not change.

What this covers

What it costs

Per square metre of tiled surface, labour and a mid-range tile together, from turnkeymalta.com's tiling model. The two top grades widen into a range because the material decides the number.

A band, not a quote: the low end is a straightforward job with clear access, the high end is the same job with the complications a site visit finds. Materials are included where the line says so.

How it works

You deal with us, not with the trade. We measure, we quote a fixed price per square metre, we bring in a tiler from the CheckYourTraders-verified network, and we stand behind the work. One point of contact, one contract, one invoice.

Questions people ask

Does the band include the tiles?
A mid-range tile of that grade, yes. If you pick something dearer from a showroom the difference is added at cost; the laying price stays the same.
Can you lay tiles I have bought?
Yes. No Maltese guide publishes a labour-only rate, so that line is quoted after measuring rather than shown as a band.
