What has to happen before the first tile — old tiles up, floor flat, wet areas tanked.
Most tiling failures are preparation failures. Old tiles left down over a hollow bed, a screed two centimetres out across a room, a shower tiled straight onto plaster — the new tiles inherit every one of them. So the card carries the preparation as its own lines: strip-out per square metre, tanking per square metre, and levelling quoted after the floor has been measured with a straight edge.
Strip-out in a Maltese flat often brings the render with it, and making good is priced when we see what came off.
Strip-out and tanking are turnkeymalta.com's published adders per square metre. Levelling has no published Maltese figure because it depends entirely on how far out the floor is; it is quoted after the site visit.
| Job | Unit | Band | What is in it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strip-out of existing tiles | per m² | €10 – €18 | removal, bagging and disposal; making good extra where the render comes with it |
| Waterproofing (tanking) before tiling | per m² | €15 – €25 | liquid membrane and corner tapes in a shower or bathroom |
| Floor levelling compound | m² | quoted on site | quoted on site — depends on how far out the slab is |
A band, not a quote: the low end is a straightforward job with clear access, the high end is the same job with the complications a site visit finds. Materials are included where the line says so.

You deal with us, not with the trade. We measure, we quote a fixed price per square metre, we bring in a tiler from the CheckYourTraders-verified network, and we stand behind the work. One point of contact, one contract, one invoice.
